Employees for the City of Fairfield returned from a four-year furlough on June 26, 2014. City Hall hours have remained 8:00am to 5:30pm, and is now open on the second, fourth and fifth Fridays of the month as well. This increase in hours has allowed the City of Fairfield to increase its services to the community by way of additional counter and window hours resulting in shorter wait times. The City also re-opened facilities such as the Fairfield Senior Center, at least two Fridays per month.
Due to the passing of Measure P in 2012, the City of Fairfield has also been able to restore several other services in addition to the ending of furloughs. These services include: assigning a dedicated street repair crew to work on City streets; increasing the number of police officer positions; maintaining services at the senior center; and expanding economic development recruitment and retention. These are signs of better times in Fairfield.
