The Fairfield Main Street Association’s annual Independence Day Parade will be held on Wednesday, July 4th at 10:00 AM. This year’s parade theme is; “A Star-Spangled Salute to America’s Heroes”. Awards and ribbons will be presented in 28 categories, with Sweepstakes Trophies for Best Use of Theme, and Grand Sweepstakes. Every entry will receive a certificate of participation. A Parade Awards Ceremony will take place on Friday, July 13 at the City Council Chambers, located at 1000 Webster Street.
Community members can show their appreciation by treating a First Responder to breakfast at the Boy Scout Troop 482 Pancake Breakfast at the Fairfield Moose Lodge located at 623 Taylor Street from 8:00 to 11:00am. Breakfast is $6.00 per person and includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice, and coffee. Tickets may be purchased or donated to a First Responder in advance at www.troop482.net. This event is open to the public and to-go boxes will be available.
There is a special twist for this year’s parade Grand Marshal as it will honor not just one individual but rather an entire family. The Grand Marshal honor goes to the Lanza Family of Wooden Valley Winery. The Lanza’s are celebrating 85 years of winemaking in Fairfield. “We couldn’t imagine a more deserving family to honor as our Independence Day Parade Grand Marshals, said Executive Director, Margaret Manzo. The Lanza family and Wooden Valley Winery do so much for our community that it was an easy decision for the Promotions Committee”.
Special thanks go to Jelly Belly for their generous sponsorship of this year’s parade.
The parade route runs along Texas Street between Taylor and Washington. Fairfield’s Channel 26 will broadcast the parade for those who are unable to attend. For more information, visit www.fairfieldmainstreet.com or call 707-422-0103.
