Learn, Educate and Progress. The LEAP Day Program is a new adult day program for individuals with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors, soon to open early February 2017. The LEAP mission is to learn, educate and strive for progressing the capacities and capabilities of each individual in the program, while providing a learning and stimulating environment through progressive and collaborative planning, and community integration.
Prior to establishing the LEAP Day Program, Jim Bernard P. Garcia began his career in 2006 working with people with developmental disabilities at the Golden Gate Regional Center. Having performed in Administrative roles for several different companies, in 2015 Jim was granted a Request For Proposal (RFP) project to operate a Day Care Program for individuals with behavioral challenges. The LEAP Day Program will offer educational, therapeutic, recreational and vocational experience to assist participants in fulfilling productive and meaningful individualized services.
With a ratio of 1 staff to 2 clients, LEAP operates to each participant and their advocate to tailor to the needs of each individual participant. The newly renovated LEAP building features a large multi-use open workspace surrounded by rooms/areas including a fitness area, a music and art room, a library lounge, a computer room, a kitchen/break area, and a spacious yard for outdoor activities. LEAP will continue to implement new activities and features based on the input from clients and their advocates.
The LEAP Day Program will be accepting clients based on referrals from their Medical Doctor. LEAP is currently accepting donations of art supplies, books, and resources that will help contribute to the success of the Day Program.
The LEAP Day Program is located at 380 Pittman Road, and will be open Monday-Friday from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm. For more information about the program, please call 707.389.2403 or visit their Facebook page.
