Last Thursday more than 200 people gathered to celebrate the reopening of Peabody Road and to walk across the newly completed overcrossing. Leading the walk across the overcrossing was the Vanden High School Percussion Ensemble band.
The project was completed ahead of schedule, under budget and opened ten days earlier due to the outstanding efforts of the construction crew. The reopening and completed overcrossing of Peabody Road is a part of the larger Fairfield-Vacaville Train Station Specific Plan.
The improvements to Peabody Road include a six-lane overcrossing over the railroad tracks at Vanden Road, which will accommodate vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic, eliminating conflicts with train traffic. When final safety checks were finished after 9pm the road reopened to traffic.
