Fairfield is a unique place to call home. Families and businesses are drawn to Fairfield’s high quality of life, abundant water source, affordable land costs, strategic Bay Area location, and pro-business local government. Funds generated by Measure P help to provide Fairfield with a safer and better place to live.
Beginning April 2013, voter approved Measure P authorized a 1% increase in the local sales tax rate for 5 years to protect the safety, services, and the quality of life in Fairfield. Measure P transaction taxes represent $16.5 million or about 20% of the General Fund revenue in the City of Fairfield’s FY 16-17 budget. The impact of Measure P on our lives in Fairfield can be seen from reduced crime, rapid emergency response, improved community programs, and better infrastructure maintenance.
Thanks to the overwhelming support from 68% of local voters for Measure P in November 2016, the City of Fairfield will continue to collect the existing local sales tax rate of 1% until March 31, 2033. Measure P supports Fairfield and the quality of life that our residents value. Your penny makes a difference in Fairfield!
