Wine industry giant E & J Gallo Comes to Suisun Valley area of Fairfield – Wine giant E & J Gallo, based out of Modesto, recently purchased Ledgewood Creek Winery in Suisun Valley. Gallo, the largest family-owned winery and largest exporter of California wines closed on the sale of the 400-acre ranch in Suisun Valley. Gallo is another addition to Solano County’s growing wine eco-system.
Not long ago, Caymus Vineyards purchased 260 acres in Suisun Valley with plans of building a 5.5 million gallon a year winery. Over 2.5 million square feet of industrial space in Fairfield’s business parks are currently being occupied by wine-related business; recent companies that have moved to Solano Business Park within the last year include Guala Closures, Encore Glass, Saxco International and Bruni Glass.
Ledgewood Creek released its first wines in 2001, and has built a tremendous following among its local clients and will truly be missed. We enjoyed the locally-owned Ledgewood, but Gallo and Caymus will provide a tremendous boost to our local economy.
